Proposed By-Laws Changes Membership Recommendations These will be By-Law Changes and be in effect regardless of the Membership Program in effect • Minimum of 18 years old to join WYF • Other NPHC – No Minimum • Minimum 2.7 GPA • Other NPHC at 2.5 • 2nd Semester Freshmen Eligible • Minimum of 16 credit hours having been completed on the university of the application, in a standard semester system (Quarter system requires 25 credits) • Other NPHC at currently allow 2nd Semester freshmen FAILED FAILED FAILED

  6. Proposed By-Laws Changes Membership Recommendations Note: Each of the Recommendations Failed at the 2008 Grand Conclave. Therefore the current requirements will remain in effect. Undergrads: 2.5 GPA (on a 4.0 system) and 36 Credits - Semester System (or 54 credits in Quarter System)

Lampados Program Conclave Vote • This is a simple vote: • Do you wish to have a Lampados Type Program – YES (In Favor) • Do you wish to keep the MSP program – NO (Against) The Lampados Program was APPROVED – Expected start is September, 2009. Training to begin in the Fall of 2008 and ALL Brothers will be required to recertify for the new Program NOTE: Expected Program start – September, 2009

  15. Membership Program Since changing from Lampados: • Brother to Brother Approach Changed. • Going to the Green. • “Do you want to be made with Respect or just be a Paper Bruh?” • Increased Renegrade/Imposter activity

Lampados Program This Educational Process MUST instill: • That entering Omega is a Lifetime Commitment that will require a Financial and Active Participation Obligation • This Commitment is to the Fraternity, which is to supersede any Chapter loyalty. • You are never to do anything that will bring shame or dishonor to the Fraternity. Mental and/or Physical Harassment, Brutality or Extortion in connection with the Lampados Club is Strictly Prohibited and will be dealt with to the fullest extent possible.

Lampados Program Safeguards Overview: • District Representative • District Representative’sDesignee • Shall insure that the Lampados Process is followed to the spirit and intent of the guidelines of the Fraternity. • Shall select a Designee to oversee the Lampados process at a particular Chapter. (A Graduate Brother, preferred that he is not a member of designated Chapter,he oversees.) • Shall oversee the Lampados process at a particular Chapter. • Responsible for insuring that the spirit of the process is followed as designed . • Participation at all events & Weekly follow-up Great Position for current MSP Chairmen

  19. Lampados Program Safeguards Overview: • Brothers MUST be Financial, MSP Certified and Have Notarized 9A-21 form on file at IHQ • The Dean of Pledgees MUST be a Chapter Officer. Vice Basileus –Preferred • DR and IHQ Pre-Approval/Pre-Payment Process of applicants • UNDERGRADS: • IHQ will notify the university of membership process and provide: • List of the approved applicants • Contact information: • District Representative • IHQ Liaison Officer • Chapter Officers • Area Representative • Chapter Advisor

Lampados Program Safeguards Overview: • Undergrads: • Joint Lampados Mtgs with local Grad Leadership • 1 Joint Social Action with local Grad Leadership • If an individual leaves the process: • Must sign a document stating reason for leaving. • Have an Exit Interview with Area Representative and District Counselor • Must return Lampados Pin and Manual.

  21. Lampados Program Safeguards Overview: • In Order for the Safeguards to work. • They MUST Be Enforced • District Representative • Select the Right People • Each Brother MUST Be Accountable

Lampados Program General Info: • Current membership requirements of candidates are still included: • Program requires a 5-6 month commitment minimum, from the Chapter to the process. • Pre Approval and Pre Payment • Verifiable Community Service for Grads • Grads from schools that have active Chapters must wait 4 years prior to applying.

Lampados Program Time Line Process: • MEMBERSHIP PROCESS PREPARATIONS • OMEGA MEET & GREET/OPEN HOUSE • INFORMATIONAL SESSION • SELECTION OF CANDIDATES - INTERVIEWS • PROCESSING OF APPLICATIONS • CHAPTER LAMPADOS INTRODUCTION • LAMPADOS CLUB PROGRAM • DISMISSAL FROM THE LAMPADOS CLUB • INITIATION • POST INITIATION ORIENTATION PHASE • ACADEMIC FOLLOW-UP • – Undergraduate Neophytes only 12 - 14 Weeks Prior 4 Weeks +2 – 4 Weeks End of Semester Chapter Commitment to Process takes 20-24 weeks = 5-6 Months

  24. Lampados Program General Info: • Formal Lampados Induction Ceremony • Weekly Formal Lampados Meetings • Complete 2 Social Action Projects • New Lampados Manual & Lampados Pin • 10:00 PM – 8:00 AM Weekday (Sunday –Thursday) Curfew • Required Sunday Church Attendance • Limited Sunday Activity

  25. Lampados Program Undergraduates: • Second Semester Freshman eligible • Dress Code - Shirt & Tie during school day. • Minimum of 15 hrs of study time /week. • Joint Social Action with local Grad Leadership • Joint Lamp Mtgs with local Grad Leadership

Lampados Program Graduates: • Applicants MUST be Sponsored by Chapter Brother: • Sponsor must be financial for min 3 years • Must commit to mentoring for 3 years post initiation. • Must present applicant to the Chapter • Only takes part during the pledge • Applicants MUST have Verifiable Community Service
