3. Not to underestimate that the nursing midwives and other AHP in these case studies understand the important of quality without efficiency is not an option . Addressing financial inefficiencies is a key personal, professional and moral responsibility . not one of the trust and people involved in the case study had any misconception that this was the case.
The understanding is that we need to be more efficient, cut the cost and the need to make decision as close to the patient as possible using the great clinical leadership talented, committed and capable people we have in the NHS.Not to underestimate that the nursing midwives and other AHP in these case studies understand the important of quality without efficiency is not an option . It costs the NHS approx 1.7 billion and is associated with 14,000 deaths annually

14. Understanding of the potential for cost savings Two elements that help to build an understanding of the potential for cost:
literature reviews for each HIA -published work relating to costs in a HIA area and gives an indication of the high level potential to save costs within each area
detailed cost benefit work on some of the HIA case studies-investigates the costs and benefits related to the improvement initiative that was carried out.

Reduction in pressure ulcers and unnecessary hospital admission
Reduction in falls
PRODUCTIVITY
for every Ł1 spent on care home support from TV nurses it generated Ł51.56 of benefits
for every Ł1 spent on the falls the seven simple steps programme generated Ł6.24 of benefits
