  6. Conclusions mid 2003! • Conclusion from the trial • ENUM as an infrastructure works! • Applications that uses ENUM are few • Most interest for ENUM to support IP-telephony • There was an interest to continue the trial • Extended trial period, until Jun 2004 • The administrative responsibility for the extended ENUM trial is assigned to the National Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) • Investigate financial and administrative routines and rules necessary for the commercial operation of ENUM Staffan Hagnell 2004-02-24

  7. The tough questions remain! • How strict should the requirement be that the E.164 Subscriber and the ENUM Subscriber always are the same (for the corresponding number)? • At time of registration • When the E.164 subscription ends • Who has the right to control the ENUM Domain Name? • The Telephone Service Provider or the E.164 Subscriber And of course all other Commercial aspects!  Staffan Hagnell 2004-02-24

  8. The “one way synchronization” problem ENUM Domain Names E.164 Numbers • How to keep them synchronized? • To a low price for everybody involved (starting with low volumes) • The solution should be based on traditional handling of E.164 numbers (The TSPs don’t want the cost of new systems or routines). • With out the cooperation of all TSPs PTS arpa e164 TSP 4 6 +46-xx xxx xxx +46-xx xxx xxx identical subscriber subscriber Staffan Hagnell 2004-02-24
