  3. introduction • The number zero came from the Arabic number system in India around 875 BC • Zero was invented by a man called Brahmagupta an Indian mathematician who adored math’s • The type of number system is called the Arabic number system. • The numbers for the Arabic number system are;0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 • The Arabic number system is the easiest number system to use when calculating compared to the roman and Egyptian number system

  6. Introduction of zero to Europe zero first came to Europe in the 10th centaury. zero spread all around Europe being the top number system in Europe. People in Europe started using this number system and they say that it is the easiest number system to use Zero started spreading from Portugal, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Ireland, England etc.

  7. How zero travelled around the world As we know that zero came from India and is called the Arabic number system there is a map that shows me how zero travelled around the world. As we can sees here there are different type of symbols and they all represent a continent There are different symbols and they all start like this; the dot starts in India then the oval shows that It then went to Arabia, then there is some sort of symbol that means it went to Babylonia close to Arabia, then there is a circle that means it then went to china, the there is a zero that means that it went to Europe and there is a smiley face which means that it lastly went to America, Maya

Expantion of math’s • The Arabic number system was useful because it was easier to calculate while with the roman and Egyptian number system you would take quite a long time to calculate • The number zero has helped because when you have a single number you can just add a zero and you are able to calculate it as simple as that.

Concluding summary • During this unit I found it quite easy but when doing all the research and trying to find something that you cant find can sometimes be difficult • When doing this unit I learnt a lot about who created zero?, when it spread to Europe, how it travelled around the world ? , and I was able to know more than the amount that we had learnt in math's with my teacher Mr. Karkhanis.
