  4. Using Paragraph Formatting • Alignment • Spacing • Paragraph space settings • Bullets and numbering • Format paragraphs all at once or individually

  5. Paragraph Alignment • Determines how text aligns between the margins • Left • Centered • Right • Alignment commands on the Home tab

  6. Line spacing • Can be set for all or a selection • Paragraph group on the Home tab • Word default is 1.15 • Insert a nonbreaking space to keep two words on the same line, no matter how the text changes

  7. Indenting Text • Increase and Decrease Indent commands on the Home tab First line indent Left indent Hanging indent Indented from left and right

  8. Using Custom Tab Stops • Default is every ½ inch • Set custom tabs with the ruler • Click to set tab type • Click mark to set custom tab

  9. Working with the Tabs Dialog Box • Launch from the Paragraphgroup on the Home tab • Change default tab stops • Set alignment • Set leader style

  10. Using Bulleted and Numbered Lists • Convert text to lists • Select and click command • Promoting and Demoting • Promoting shifts to left ([Shift]+[Tab]) • Demoting shifts to right ([Tab]) • Indent buttons are on the Ribbon • Tap [Enter] twice or use the buttons to turn off numbering

  11. Bullet and Numbering Libraries • Choose a style or define new formats • Numbering library • Bullet Library

  12. Customize Bullets and Numbers • Define symbol, picture, font, or alignment • Choose symbols, pictures, and fonts • Select number style • Change number format • Restart or continue numbering in AutoCorrect

  13. Using Borders and Shading • Select area for borders or shading • Borders button (Paragraph group) • Shading button (Paragraph group)

  14. Inserting Page Numbers • Insert > Header & Footer > page Number from the Ribbon • Choose number location • Options such as formatting are available
