  2. What is gas exchange? Gas exchange is getting oxygen from the air into the blood and moving carbon-dioxide from the blood into the air. Gases like this are called gas exchange. There are some very important things called the Alveoli when we talk about gas exchange. They are adapted to make gas exchange easier.

  3. Functions of the alveoli • Lungs have a big surface area • Thin walls that are one cell thick • Have some tiny blood vessels which are called capillaries. • How it works: • Oxygen moves in from the air into the blood • Carbon dioxide moves in from the blood into the air

  4. What organs do fishes have and how do they work? • Instead of having lungs like us, fishes have gills. They breathe the same oxygen that’s in the air but the only difference is that they get their oxygen from the water. Gills are flat and found at both sides of their mouths. They suck the water through there mouths and push it through the gills. When the water flows, their gills pick up the oxygen in the water so they can breathe!

  5. What organs do insects have and how do they work? • Insects need oxygen to live and produce carbon dioxide as a waste product like us. They do not have lungs and they do not transport oxygen through circulatory system. Instead of lungs they have some tubes called trachea. These tubes are located in the chest. Insects have some tiny holes called spiracles. These spiracles lead to tubes that carry oxygen to every part of the body.
