  1. Nuclear Technologies NUCLEAR TECHNOLOGIES CLUSTER: RESULTS and PERSPECTIVES Ekaterinburg, June 2014

  2. ATTRACTION AND SUPPORT OF STURTUPS IS OUR KEY ACTIVITY IN FRAME OF CREATION OF SKOLKOVO ECOSYSTEM • On June 6, 99 startups participated in Skolkovo project and developing their technology business in the innovation segment Nuclear technologies; 8 projects got positive response from Cluster expert panel. • NT Cluster actively participated in Startup Tour. Useful working relationship with professionals (researchers and entrepreneurs) in 20 cities around Russia has been established; 25 teams developing projects in frame of the NT Cluster innovation priority fields was invited to join Skolkovo. • Resident companies supported by NT cluster presented their achievements on International exhibitions in Russia and abroad: SPIE PhotonicsWest 2014, International Waste Management Symposia, Analytica, SPIE Photonics Europу, Hannover Messe, Photonics Russia, Metrol-Expo Rus, «Technical support of law enforcing agencies», Atomexpo. RESEARCH CENTER

  3. The participants with the strongest potential are receiving maximum support from the cluster Plasma Sources Nuclear Container Corporation Attracting external funding Partnership with the industry, GR, PR Awarding of a grant Accelerating and developing the commercialization strategy

  4. Market priorities for implementation of nuclear and radiation technologies • Nuclear industry • Medicine and biotechnologies • Micro- and nano- electronics • Manufacturing and processing industries • Security and safety • Food and water markets • Ecological sustainability • Scientific market

  5. NUCLEAR CLUSTER RESIDENTS – STURTUP COMPANIES • There are 99companies in the Cluster • The priority areas of focusare formulated based on the requirements imposed on technological solutionsbased on inventions in the nuclear sector: creating, modifying and certifying materials; radiation technologies and device- and machine-buildingtechnologies. It is specifically in these three areas that 90% of the participating companies are developing their business • In the field of nuclear science, the Cluster is supporting companiesthat are working on technologies related to de-commissioning of materials and work with waste materials Innovation priority Participants 1. Technologies for which there is demand in the nuclear sector 10 2. Radiation technologies 27 28 3. Technologies used to create and perform diagnostics on materials 4. Device- and machine-building technologies 32 5. Technologies used in engineering and planning 2 • NT cluster managed to attract at least the same number of participants as it did the year before in spite of decreasing the total number of Skolkovo applications • However, following regular monitoring of their activity,approximately10% companies had their status as participants withdrawn in 2013, because they did not undertake any research at all Q1 2012 Q2 2012 Q1 2013 Q2 2013 Q3 2013 Q3 2012 Q4 2012 Q3 2011 Q4 2011 Q4 2013 Number of Nuclear Technologies Cluster participants Number of Nuclear Technologies Cluster applicants % of the Foundation applications

  6. International partnerships International acceleration • Getting companies from the Cluster involved in successfulcommercialization projects for innovation centres and partners - HighTechXLEindhoven, Acceleration Pathway atHoustonTechnology Centre • Presentation of NT Clusteprojects : • In the field of radiation technologies – in Grenoble (France) in March 2014 • In the field of back-end – in Japan, in the 3rdquarter of 2014 3. Work is ongoing to attract entrepreneursto projects involving teams with predominantly scientific and research-based skill-sets Plasma screens Shandong HIG • РХТ International commercialization A range of projects are being developed by means of international partnerships (R&D contracts, procurement of inventions, potential purchase of technologies or start-ups themselves) 2. The mechanism of competitions involving international partners – Varian Startup Challenge 2013 (we are continuing this in 2014)

  7. The Cluster closely collaborates with universities and research institutes • 25% of the Cluster projects are founded by graduates of RAS institutes • 8 RAS projects raised grant financing • At least 10% of the Foundation experts are RAS employees • 2014 год: Presentation of Skolkovo opportunities in PI RAS, IoS RAS, FEFU, MEPhI, Joint Seminar of RFBR and Helmholtz society. Interactionwith • Interaction with universities: Lomonosov Moscow State University, Bauman Moscow State Technical University, MEPhI, MIPT, UrFUetc. • 20% of the Cluster companies are founded by university graduates • Cluster employees participate in project contests;regular meetings are held with students and teachers of the main universities to attract new projects. Interaction with universities • l’AUEG (AllianceUniversitéEntreprisedeGrenoble) • Technoprom– 2014 • BEST AVAILABLE TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE INDUSTRY • DEMAND FOR NEW TECHNOLOGIES: PRIVATE INITIATIVE AND PUBLIC POLICY • STARTUP VILLAGE • Potential of Engineering companies for speed up commercialisation of new technologies and products • Соглашение с АВЭРО Round tables Conferences Seminars

  8. Top priorities of the Cluster in next 3 years • The main challenge for the Cluster in next three years will be achieving the “critical mass” of participantsthat can gain significant commercial success inthe next 5 to 7 years. The portfolio of developed products and further commercialization should provide ambitious growth of revenue and jobs after 2015 • The focus in the next 2-3 yearswill be on further development in the areas of beam, laser, plasma technologies and new materials’ and coatings’ development with broad involvement of Russian and international industrial partners and active acceleration of the most perspective participants • As part of ecosystem development, expert leadership in market/product applications of nuclear and radiation and material sciencetechnologies have to be demonstrated by being a key potential partner for the best innovation startup projects in their field. 8

  9. The second half of 2013 saw significant progress in interaction with industrial partners Acceleration of cluster participants Joint events, competitions, PR, GR Support of subsidiaries (spin-offs) Launching of R&D /engineering centers in the negotiation stage
