  2. The Middle Years Program • Ages 11-16

  3. ITT Criteria • The Innovative Interactive Technology Program • There are no academic eligibility requirements • Students are selected by lottery • 10th Grade requirements: minimum 2.0 GPA • 1/3 of all graduates from Suncoast are in the ITT program • Students in the ITT program may take any AP classes offered

  4. Computer Science • To generate specific interests in computer science, technology science , math, and computer engineering • To increase problem solving approaches through programming • To provide students with rigorous courses in computer science • Must complete Honors level Geometry and Algebra I

  5. IB Programs • Originally Designed for Traveling Diplomats • Stimulating Curriculum • Rigorous study for motivated and well disciplined students • This program is no longer considered for only the gifted and talented • Builds academic stamina in 9th and 10th grades • Prepare for advanced reading and writing as well as “extensive homework” • Pressure and Stress are key factors • There are 6 exit exams for the program • Students must earn a grade of 3 or higher on 5 of the exams

MSE Criteria • Entering 9th Grade • 3.0 cumulative grade point average (GPA) in core academic subjects • 3.0 average in math • Successful completion of Honors Algebra I, II, and Geometry Honors prior to beginning 9th grade • Motivation as demonstrated by acceptable attendance and conduct • Proficiency in Reading Comprehension and Math concepts/applications • “Excellent in Math”

  7. Advanced Placement Classes What are the advantages? • Develop College Level Academic Skills • Preparation for IB Classes

  8. Fact or Myth?????? • If your neighborhood High School has an IB Program can our Child apply for the IB Program at Suncoast??????? • If they apply to Suncoastrather than the neighborhood school, they will be denied based on this criteria???????
