AASHTO View on MDSS Deployment • MDSS Project • Amazing progress on a complex and diverse project • Comprehensive understanding of public and private stakeholder needs • Masterful coordination of interdisciplinary technical work in developing MDSS package that field personnel can understand, use and have confidence in the results

AASHTO View on MDSS Deployment • MDSS Project (continued) • Will serve as a model for other complex projects involving multidisciplinary work and private sector in the problem solving process • Good interface with the National Research Council (NRC) report, “Where the Weather Meets the Road: A Research Agenda for Improving Road Weather Services” • Still more needs to be done before the vision for transportation in 2020 is accomplished

AASHTO View on MDSS Deployment • AASHTO assistance in training, field demos, technology transfer, etc. • Developing new MDSS lesson for the AI/RWIS Computer Based Training (CBT) program • Working with FHWA to insure Eastern Winter Road Maintenance Symposium and Equipment Expo continues • Promote the Canadian interest in MDSS
