  2. Medical Evaluation • In about 2004, SDSO sworn staff filled out medical questionnaire reviewed by doctor. • For new employees this is included in hiring process. • Re-evaluate employees if needed

  3. REQUIREMENTS • Written program administrated by suitably trained administrator • Procedures for cleaning, storage, inspecting, and maintaining respirators • Procedures for use of respirators

  4. TRAINING EMPLOYEES • Train Employees in proper use including: - Donning - Doffing - Limitations of use - Maintenance Training must be done yearly

  5. RESPIRATOR CHOICE • Must be NIOSH approved • Must provide enough protection for a given atmosphere • Must provide choices for employee

  6. FIT TEST • Done every year (or sooner if required) • Fit factor of 500 or higher (full face masks) • Must test employee with same make, model, and style they will use • No qualitative tests on full face masks • No facial hair interfering with sealing or valve function
