  2. What is Acid rain? Rain containing acids that form in the atmosphere when industrial gas emissions (especially sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxides) combine with water.

  3. The effects of Acid rain Acid rain causes pollution of lakes and streams and contributes to the damage of trees, (for example, red spruce trees above 2,000 feet) and many sensitive forest soils. In addition, acid rain accelerates the decay of building materials and paints, including irreplaceable buildings, statues, and sculptures that are part of our nation's cultural heritage.

  4. Forms of Acid rain There are many forms of acid rain that are seen around the world. In parts of the world where there is wet weather, there is acid rain, acid snow, and acid fog. In parts of the world where there is dry weather, there is acid gas and acid dust. All of the lakes and streams in the world are normally slightly acidic. Heavy rainstorms or melting snow can cause the acidity in lakes and in streams to increase.

  5. The affects it has on the air, us and our health… Acid rain affects us in many different ways. One major way is our health. Breathing and lung problems in children and adults who have asthma and in children have been linked to acid air pollution. Everything that we eat, drink, and breathe has at one time come in contact with acid deposits. This could threaten our health by making us become sick.

  6. Materials Acid rain affects many types of materials, from objects of particular historical artistic or cultural value, buildings and monuments to more ordinary objects such as cars and trucks. Acid rain, especially in the "dry" form, corrodes metal, and accelerates the deterioration of stone and paint.

  7. Acid rain Cycle Acid rain is made up of harmful chemicals like sulfur and nitrogen. Those chemicals come from the black smoke the factories let out of their large smoke stacks. Then the smoke gets mixed up in the water cycle and creates acid rain.
