  1. Introduction A procedure to relieve dental pain and save a tooth that is badly decayed or infected. The nerve and pulp of the tooth are removed and the inside is cleaned and sealed.

  2. What Are the Signs? Sharp pain when chewing or biting. Chipped or cracked and tooth sensitivity. Swollen or painful gums. Deep decay or darkened gums.

  3. Root Canal Procedure The x-ray is taken to see the infected area of the tooth and local anesthesia is given to freeze. The dentist carefully removes the pulp inside the tooth, cleans, disinfects, shapes & places a filling to seal the space.

  4. Recovery Process For the first few days, the tooth may feel sensitive especially if there was pain or infection before the procedure. This usually can be eased with over the counter pain medications.

  5. Post Care Treatment Brush and floss at least twice a day. Wear a mouth guard to avoid sports-related injury. See your dentist regularly. Until the place of crown try to avoid chewing.
