  2. Gifted Cluster Model • Students identified as gifted are placed in clusters of usually four to eight • The GRT works with the CT to implement a differentiated, rich, curriculum that includes: • Problem based units developed by the gifted department • Junior Great Books • William and Mary Literature and History Units • Project Clarion • M2 Math • Groundworks • Exemplars • Grade Level Themes

  3. Communication and Advocacy • I can best be reached by email at danielle.storme@vbschools.com • My phone number is 648-2760, extension 55645 • My blog is linked to the KMES website and is updated four times per year. • Conferencing

  4. “HOLDS” Students • Four tasks will be administered throughout the school year: • Math, Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies • Both the CT and myself will write a recommendation for students on HOLD • Parents are not asked to complete an additional recommendation form, but are welcome to submit any additional pertinent information • Students will be retested in the Spring of 2nd grade and the selection committee will review all of the data to determine if your child is eligible for gifted services • Once your child is identified as “gifted” he or she will always be eligible for gifted services in Virginia Beach • All students are tested again in 5th grade as part of the Kemps Landing application process and to identify additional students who may be eligible for gifted services

  5. Questions? • Thank you so much for being here. I have enjoyed getting to know your children this year and I am so excited to be part of their education!
