Problem Statement • Pre-project exercise was 2-3x/week, for about 30 min. each time, totaling 60-90 min./week, which maintains but does not decrease weight. • Can’t always find time to exercise • Overweight by about 20 lbs. per Body Composition Analysis (10/9/00) • Intensive exercise a few times per week leads to injuries and periods of less exercise overall. • Skipping exercise exacerbates stress.

  5. Target 5:30 am and 8pm time slots Share cooking or get take-out food Share dog exercising Schedule exercise in advance Leave work on-time Vary exercise activity (decrease strain) Vary time of day (add variety) Run errands at lunch time instead of evening Identify Areas of Intervention

  11. Adding walking made the greatest difference. Proportion of afternoon time was a surprise (high). Insights

  12. Outcomes • Average daily exercise increased from 3x/week to 5x/week, primarily through addition of walking regimen. • Average minutes per day of exercise increased from 13 min./day to 23 min./day. • Weight decreased by about 10 lbs. In 10 weeks.
