  3. 2003CITY MANAGERS SET UP A WORKING GROUP 3 • The task of the working group was • to develop and harmonize environmental reporting • to agree on and define common sustainability indicators including economical issues • to share experiences and knowledge between the six cities and inside of each city

  4. RESULTS 4 • Final report includes • Decided content of a sustainability report • Ecological sustainability indicators • Environmental economic key figures • Instruction manual for calculating the chosen indicators

  5. CRITERIA FOR INDICATORS 5 • Availability • Repeatability • Representative • Describes development trends in operations of a city organization • Are close to every day work of the employees of a city organization

  6. ECOLOGIAL SUSTAINABILITY INDICATORS 6 • Indicators (27) are divided as follows: • Indicators describing general development • Sustainability of land use and urban structure • Environmental load and eco-efficiency of activities • Mobility efficiency • Environmentally responsible consumption and environmental education

  7. FURTHER ACTIONS 7 • To continue development of ecological and economical sustainability indicators and check calculation • To make a joint report of the results in the six participating cities • To choose common social sustainability indicators

ENVIRONMENTAL LOAD AND ECO-EFFIENCY OF ACTIVITIES 10 • Electricity consumption • Water consumption • Number of inhabitants and real-estates which have joined into the district heating • Specific electricity, heat and water consumption • Air quality • Waste water load from the community • Amount of waste • Amount of recycled waste
