  3. How many hours will my child spend on his/her course? • NAT 3 120 hours • NAT 4 120 hours • NAT 5 160 hours Through S3/4 students will on average have studied 180+ hours per Learning Option

  4. S5 Curriculum Structure

Assessment in S3 • Evidence for learning will be taken from a range of contexts to check progression and that learning is secure. • Evidence will be different depending on the subject, activity and learner. • Evidence will come from day to day learning as well as from specific assessment tasks, tests and examinations.

  6. So what does it look like in S3? Not based on one piece of evidence • Solo work in class • Contribution to a group or class task • Oral responses • Written responses • Redrafted work • Practical tasks • Project based work

  7. Examinations • Some subjects will have a formal assessment or examination that can take place in the classroom or Games Hall during the March Assessment Week. • Others subjects will carry out assessments at other times during the year/term. • Students will have the opportunity to experience both practical and formal assessments in preparation for their SQA assessments in S4.

  8. Examples • Physical Education – Practical assessment • Art- Written paper in class followed by a practical assessment • Computing- Assessment linked to a project carried out in class • Maths-Numeracy assessment for all • English- Response to literature in class/Hall • Modern languages- Assessment in class
