  2. Symptoms • A woman brings in her 10 year old son with these symptoms • Aggression • Anger • Shaking • Convulsing • Smelled a foul odder • Doesn’t remember falling • A little bit of sleep

  3. Diagnosis and about diagnosis • The symptoms lead me to believe that Raymond has Epilepsy • Epilepsy is a disorder in the brain. It is when neurons behave differently causing seizures. • Epilepsy also effects the nervous system

  4. Parts of the brain affected • Epilepsy affects your muscle coordination which is in the cerebellum • It also affects movement which is in the motor cortex in the back of frontal lobe of cerebrum • It could also affect the brain stem because Raymond had only a little amount of sleep. • The motor cortex- Movement

Life with epilepsy • They may need to go to therapy • Have to deal with emotional and behavioral problems • They are going to have embarrassment problems also that come with epilepsy • They can not drive unless they haven’t had a seizure in a long time and have recorded how long it has been. • They should be careful while swimming and sailing • Shouldn’t participate in racing • They can not be denied empolyment

  6. Error • The error would be all over the brain and nervous system

Careers who could Help with epilepsy • Neurologist • What they do • Test brain waves to determine the cause of Seziures • Use MRI’s to look at brain damage • Diagnose sleep disorders • Education Needed • Four years of Pre-Med • Medical School • Internship in medicine/surgery • Salary • The median is $45, 230 • It all depends on the years of experience and years of school

  8. Careers who could help with epilepsy • Nurse • Help prepare the patient for the neurologist • Have to give IV’s and brain scans to help neurologist diagnose patient • Put in meds that patients need
