Board’s background • 74 years old. • Board operates and has presence in all 32 states and the nation capital throughout a total of 67 appointed offices. • -22 in Mexico City • -45 foreign offices Jurisdiction autonomy “Working differences or conflicts amongst capital and workers will be subject to the decision of a Federal Conciliation and Arbitration Board served by equal number of workers and employers and a government representative”.

  4. 40181 individual cases received • Only 18% of individual cases conciliated • 26277 cases escalated to second • instance (challenging our resolutions) • 26 workers’ strikes (out of 8329 threats) Evolving role and responsibilities Although created to help solving conflicts between workers and employers... Nowadays most of individual cases come from federal government agencies. +Yearly figures as of 12/ 2000
