  2. Born/Died “Meriwether Lewis” was born on (August 18, 1744) in “Albemarle Country, Virginia”, in the present day community of LVY. On the 3rd of September, 1809 when he was going to Washington, He died from gun wounds, from either murder or suicide.

  3. Interesting information • Meriwether Lewis was best known for his role as the co-leader of the “Lewis and Clark Expedition”. Which was an expedition for science, to study plants and animal life. And also learn how religion could be exploited economically. • He was also the son of “Lt. Williams Lewis” of the “Locust Hill”. • According to “Thomas Jefferson” his most important goal was to find the most direct & practicable water communication across the continent, for the purpose of commerce with Asia.

  4. Early Life As a kid Lewis loved to listen to his dad tell amazing stories about the revolution. He also loved fishing, hunting, and roaming around the forest. His mother was a skilled cook, and his father was a solider who, died in a frozen river in leave of the military. I think his passion for science is what made him a famous man.

  5. Nationality He was an American, Christen, from Virginia, who was born in his father’s farm, 10 miles away from Monticello. He was also president Thomas Jefferson’s secretary at the beginning of the 18 century.

  6. Major Exploration His major exploration was on a waterway of communication from western America to Asia. He did this project in the “Lewis and Clark Expedition”. With captain William Clark. He also got $2,500 to explore the “Mississippi River”.
