  9. 電影討論Movie discussion* (cont’d) Hypothetical question • 如果是西方家庭, 故事會如何發展? What would this story end if it happened to a western family? I don’t think that the kids in the western family would help their parents take a bath. But it doesn’t mean that western families don’t care about their family members. They may have different ways to express their love to their families. *Student should answer in Chinese.

  10. 電影討論Movie discussion* (cont’d) Clarification question • 女孩從她父親和先生學到什麼? What did the girl learn from her father and from her husband? The girl learned from her dad that love is spending time with the family and rewarding the kids for positive behaviors and good academic performance. She learned from her husband that love is giving care to the family, in addition to buying physical materials, and expecting no return. * Student should answer in Chinese.

  11. 電影討論Movie discussion* (cont’d) Elaborating question • 此片與上次看的中國電影有何異同? What’s the similarity and/or difference between this story and the Chinese story? I found that, no matter rich or poor, a father’s love to his children is the same in all cultures. The ways the fathers caring their daughters in both India and Chinese movies were the same. Both daughters in the films appreciated father’s love and love them in return. The family values seems no salient difference in these two movies. It may safe to conclude that the fundamental element of family values is universal in all cultures. * Student should answer in Chinese.
