Advisory Board Meeting: • MPES Circle Survey Discussion • Overview of survey needs and considerations • Evaluation of the MPES • MPES fall evaluation survey prep and planning • MPES Updates • New ESEA waiver applications, accountability model, and goal-training workshops

MPES Circle Survey Goals RCU tasked with: • Development of tool to go live in January 2014 • 3 equally weighted components: Certified staff, principal, and supervisor • Concise online survey (should take <30 min.) • Anonymous teacher feedback • Secure, one-time-use login IDs provided to all survey participants (distributed locally)

  7. MPES Circle Survey Goals, Cont. • “Two-tier” scoring and reporting process • Survey completed at each participant’s convenience or in a lab setting • Survey score aligned with the MPES 1-4 rating • Webinar trainings for MPES participants in January-February 2014

Focus Group Feedback • Original draft of questions included approx. 50 questions (goal was to reduce to approx. 30) • RCU has received feedback from MPES Advisory Board and a sampling of districts selected by the Office of Federal Programs • Revisions to survey have been implemented (survey now numbers approx. 35 questions) • Final focus group meeting targeted to occur on Dec. 5

Overview of Survey Procedures • Districts notify RCU when survey is to be activated • Participants have one-time-use access code which allows them to submit survey responses only one time (RCU and MDE cannot match code with respondent) • Survey requires participants to acknowledge that they must be certified staff members • Survey requires participants to verify their district and administrator

Overview of Survey Procedures, Cont. • Survey has “save and continue” functionality (this feature does require participants to enter email address, BUT this data is not retained) • Teachers/superintendents evaluating multiple administrators will be given unique access codes (one survey per administrator) • Data is reported in aggregate Communication regarding the Circle Survey and MDE-approved alternatives will be ready for distribution in Dec. 2013

  12. Sample Report Let’s take a few minutes to view a sample report. Reports will be distributed to MPES participants within a 1-2 week window following the close of their survey.

Circle Survey Training • Webinar trainings are currently being developed by the RCU for three groups: • Teachers • Principals/CTE directors • Evaluators/district Canvas contact support personnel • Trainings will be available through the RCU website starting Jan. 2014 (Circle Survey goes live Jan. 6, 2014)

Circle Survey Training • Trainings will be tailored to meet the needs of each group and will address topics such as: • How to login and complete the survey • Survey confidentiality • Reporting functions • How to input the survey results in Canvas after the Circle Survey meeting • Circle Survey alternatives approved by MDE

  20. IV. MPES and the New Accountability Model • Proposed Accountability Model • QDI is GONE • New model awards points in each category by the percent of students meeting each established criteria • Points are awarded to Growth for ALL Students
