  1. a Jean Michel Pancrazi Patrick Hauberoche Customer Support Technical Publication for Government Helicopters AECMA 1000D on Tiger and NH90 An example of Electronic Publication in AECMA 1000D 1

  2. Tech Pub in Eurocopter Domain : Customer Support Activity : Creation and Maintenance of Support Technical Publication for Helicopters Destination : All Eurocopter Customers Civil range : Paper and Electronic Technical Publication based on ATA 100/2100 EC120, EC130, EC 135, EC145, EC155, AS332, …. Military range : Electronic Technical Publication based on AECMA 1000D for specific military programs : Tiger, NH90, ... 2

  3. General overview • Document conversion on Tiger • Already existing paper tech pub on ATA 100 • Converted in Electronic documentation based on AECMA 1000 Full AECMA 1000D creation on NH90 • Both program are shared between many partners • Many industry with different basis • Engine manufactures and Equipment suppliers also involved in other programs • In both cases, Industry is integrator for customer(s) and only delivers IETP • New constraints comparing with ‘classical’ tech pub • Integrated Logistic Support on TIGER and NH90 • Maintenance concept given by LSA • Breakdown for tech pub and Material Support given by SBC (close link) • Applicability management • 3 basic version on Tiger (HAP/UHT/HAC) + 2 export version (HAD/ARH) • More than 15 basic versions on NH90 • Many changes on design during life cycle • => Important need of applicability management (use of ‘in-line applicability’) 3

  4. Focus on AECMA TIGER NH90 General features French/German Program EC is CSDB integrator of all DM for Tiger Program and is in charge of the Master CSDB for the Customer French/German/Italian/Dutch Program EC provides data modules under EC RPC and integrates French Equipment Suppliers (ECD is Integrator) Based on s1000D Issue 1 change 7 Self content Guidance Document Issue 1 change 8 Guidance Document + Style Guide Additional features due to contract or request from customers Data exchanges based on AECMA 1.8 Hot spots partly based on AECMA 1.9 Some customisation (graphic size, tech pub code …) None (« pure » AECMA 1.8) Additional request (under discussion) IAWD IETP-X Hot spots IETP-X IAWD Prospect Possible migration to s1000D 1.9 or s1000D 2.x later for both programs in order to take all needs into account and avoid differences between programs As a summary two programs, two different implementation of AECMA, two different set of rules, different constraints, some actors are the same 4

  8. Experience feedback (1/2) AECMA technical publication launched in 1998 for Tiger, 1999 for NH90 Hard points (but not negatives ones !) • Difficulties to harmonise concepts between the two programs => • discrepancies to manage for EC/ECD and common suppliers • difficulties also with the common customers (French and German officials) which have two products presenting different rules from the same furnisher • Maturity of Spec1000D in the beginning of the Tiger program • need of some adaptation and amendments (now integrated in basic specification) • Some difficulties with AECMA concepts and formalism one some topics • Aircrew : Difficulties for pilot to accept the AECMA formalism • Long process for explanation (many habits to change) • => Strongly requests a detailed Guidance Document Huge amount of work due to integrator position on Tiger => Co-ordination with all partners needed (analyse of DMRL, harmonisation, derogation for some partner, ...) In Process Review generates important amount of remarks and rework => advantage is best quality of the final product for “In Service” phase. 8

  9. Experience feedback (2/2) Positive points Relative easiness of tools implementation for data modules management Technical publication structure regarding data modules is more logical and avoids redundancies (make one, use many) Easy adaptation for Browser viewer technology comparing with civil range (ATA) General quality of the Technical Publication increased (automatic checks, validation, DMRL management) Cycles for Electronic publication production (elapsed time between CSDB freeze and CD-Rom Issue) decrease comparing with civilian range documentation 9

  10. Thank you for your attention ! Example of AECMA Publication : Xindoc Tiger 10
