  2. Positive Aspect #1 This unfinished road, connecting Nimmo Parkway and eventually Princess Anne Road, will make traffic flow more smoothly, and in the long term will help reduce pollution because it is a shorter distance than having to travel on long roads going around to get to where you are going.

  3. Positive Aspect #2 The building of the new Kellam High School is something our community is very happy about. Kellam is an old school and is run down and the project of building a new one is very appealing to us. A new school will encourage students to continue with their education. This will effect the community in a positive way. New Kellam Old Kellam Building Kellam

  4. Positive Aspect #3 The Princess Anne Area Library is an important part of many students and citizens of our community. Many people read for fun but many students in the area use the study rooms it has and also use lots of the books for school reports, projects, and other assignments.

  5. Negative Aspect #1 Princess Anne Middle School is a very old school and although the teachers and curriculum are outstanding, the building itself is run down. Recently there have been plans for our school to be moved into the old Kellam High School while they rebuild P.A.M.S., but those plans keep getting pushed back and forgotten about.

  6. Negative Aspect #2 Student membership since 2004/2005 in Virginia Beach schools has dropped. It went from 74, 651 to 69, 499 in five years. This is a dramatic drop in school membership in our school division. This is something to worry about but also makes sense because of the population of military family’s that live in Virginia Beach.

  7. Negative Aspect #3 As of now the Tide runs through Norfolk- from Fort Norfolk Station to Newtown Road. There was discussion of it being extended to the Ocean Front in Virginia Beach but the residents of our community were reluctant to comply. As the discussion goes on people are still split between the pros and cons of the project. The idea that once the project is started it has to be finished, and the fact that it is a multi-million dollar project is what upsets most people. The money that could be used for this project is money that could be used to pay firefighters, police, officers, and teachers. http://www.wavy.com/dpp/news/local_news/va_beach/vb-police-also-against-light-rail http://www.gohrt.com/public-records/Planning-and-Development-Documents/VB-Transit-Extension-Study/VBTES-FAQs.pdf

  8. Action Plan for the Tide: If the Tide Light Rail were to be extended to the ocean front in Virginia Beach, it would take an estimated $807 million. There is no estimated time for the project because it still has to make its way onto a ballot to be voted on and then it would still have to be approved by the City Council. The Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Rail & Public Transportation is conducting a study to see possible directions in which the Tide could be extended. Many people are involved in this project including citizens of Virginia Beach who vote on the project, the people in charge of the project, government officials, and also the people who would actually be building the tracks.
