  2. Money Matters We cannot ignore the fact that even though money isn’t everything, it’s important. It’s important to God, therefore, it should be important to us. And it begins with this truth: it all belongs to God.

  3. Money Matters • Over 600 references to prayer in • the Bible • Almost 500 references to faith in • the Bible • Over 2,350 references to money in • the Bible

  4. Money Matters • One out of every 10 verses in the • Gospels is about our attitude and • management of riches, wealth, or • material possessions. • Over half of the recorded parables of • Jesus address money and material • possessions.

  5. Money Matters * Our attitude toward material wealth is a measure of the altitude of our spiritual health.

  6. Money Matters In essence, if our finances are out of order at home, they won’t be in order at the church. So, we must determine what are “Money Killers” and how we can combat them.

  7. Money Matters - Discontentment (Matthew 19:16-22) - Debt (Proverbs 22:26, 27) - Disorganization (Proverbs 21:20)

  8. Money Matters Money Killer #1 "Discontentment” -The average U.S. household with debt has more than $15,000 in credit card debt. So, there's a good chance that while your neighbor has things, there's a lot of debt attached to those things. In essence, in order to combat discontentment, we must find contentment.

  9. Money Matters *Focus On What You Do Have. *Consider The Fate Of Past Purchases. *Reduce Your Social Media Snooping. *Give Stuff Away. *Set Your Sights On Eternity.

  10. Money Matters Money Killer #2 "Debt" Debt is the symptom of a larger issue. It may be a result of discontentment, an attempt to achieve satisfaction through things, a lack of planning or discipline, or even an addiction, but if it's not addressed, it can have us on the verge of financial ruin.

  11. Money Matters • - The total U.S. household debt is • in the trillions. • We have $60 billion in credit • card debt. • Those who just graduated • college average $37,000 in debt.

  12. Money Matters Example: You rent to own furniture for $5000 at a 20% interest rate. The minimum monthly payment is $200, and that is all that you can afford. Over 12 years, you will have paid a total of $8418 for a $5000 purchase.
