  3. Memories Look at the picture on p.4 With a partner, discuss the picture. Questions: Who are they? Where are they now? What are they doing? What are they talking about? What are their relationships? (friends, co-workers, strangers, etc.)

  4. Your best memory Think about your BEST high school memory. Tell the members of your group about your memory. Use the phrase: “My best high school memory is….” EXAMPLE: “My best high school memory is being able to see my friends everyday, and hanging out with them.”

  5. Conversation (p.4) Questions: Who is talking? What is Liz wearing? Did Sally used to speak to James? Who did James use to date? Who is James married to?

  16. Language in action (p.6) A person I used to know… Who do you remember? I remember my best friend from elementary school. His name was Ryan. When did you know this person? I knew him a long time ago, when I was an elementary school student. What do you remember about the person? He really loved video games, but was bad at sports. We used to hang out every weekend. He would visit my house. He always wanted to be a soldier when he grew up. Other details He didn’t use to smoke, but started smoking in high school. When was the last time you saw this person? The last time I saw this person was in high school. We weren’t friends anymore though.

  17. Your best memory Write it like this: I remember my best friend from elementary school, Ryan. We met in first grade of elementary school. He used to love playing video games. I liked sports, but he didn’t. We used to hang out every weekend. He didn’t use to smoke, but started smoking in high school. The last time I saw him was in high school, but we weren’t friends anymore.
