Possible traps

“I am hurting, but I think the discomfort will go away after resting during the weekend”

“I can just work overtime for a few weeks and once things slow down I will be fine”

“I will skip this break so I can finish this project”

“I can stop exercising for a few weeks to work longer hours to get everything done”

Ways to avoid traps

Remember nothing is more important than your safety

Support each other as a team and communicate

Be in control of deadlines

Establish ways to minimize/ prioritize meetings

Cover each other for meetings as needed

Be open with your supervisor about your work load and comfort level

Schedule time on calendar for ‘uninterrupted’ work time to work on high priority projects

Set break timer (RSIGuard) to provide more frequent cues

3 minute break every 30-40 minutes

Use two mice to spread the repetitive work to both hands

When using non-dominant hand remove mouse for dominant hand off the desk so you will not be tempted to use it
