  2. Ideal Classrooms • With your neighbor, discuss your idea of an ideal classroom. • What does it look like? Sound like? Include? • What are the students doing? (listening, reading??) • What is the teacher doing?

  3. Ideal Classrooms? • Comfortable • Hands-on • Center-based • Discussion oriented • One computer per student • Large in size; small in number • Fun Thinking Prompt: How does Universal Design for Learning support the idea of an ideal classroom??

  4. What is UDL?? • How was this idea brought to light? • Do accommodations intended for those with special needs benefit you? How so? Examples. • What are the three basic principles of UDL? • How does this apply to the classroom? • Interesting brain research regarding UDL • Visit the Cast website

  5. Universal Design for Learning • Gather in a group of three or four. • Consider the three main principles of UDL: 1. Providing multiple representations of information. • Providing multiple options for expressing knowledge. • Providing multiple options for engaging learners. • Generate ideas as to how technology could work for each of the three principles.

Digital Storytelling The Process • Decide on a story you would like to tell that addresses your content area or an educational passion. • Use the storyboard to plan your story. • Take pictures with the digital camera and/or find pictures from the Internet. • Follow the directions found on the course schedule. • Save on our T-Share in “digital_stories” folder.
