  2. The Centre • Tower Wood Outdoor Education Centre is set in 12 magnificent acres of lawns and woodland, extending from the beautiful Edwardian house down to the eastern shore of Windermere. The site looks across the Lake to the high fells of the Lake District and has an enviable and easily accessible position.

  3. The Centre • The centre has over 40 years’ experience of delivering safe, high quality, outdoor adventure experiences for all. Tower Wood can offer a wide range of land and water based activities. • Tower Wood has its own private jetties and lake access, together with a fully equipped boathouse.

  4. Activities • Activities include sailing, canoeing, kayaking plus a wide range of land based courses from rock climbing and mountaineering to caving, mountain biking and much more. • The staff at Tower Wood will always afford you a warm welcome and a safe, fun, learning environment. • In addition, you will have the assurance that Tower Wood are fully accredited with the licensing authority.

  7. Kit List Many items of clothing are likely to get wet. KIT LIST continued • 3 pairs of shoes; 1 pair for indoors, e.g. slippers, 1 pair for outdoors, 1 old pair of trainers for water activities which will get wet and muddy • Night clothes • Underwear • Toiletries; soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, shampoo etc • 2 towels • Plastic bags for wet clothing • Lunch box, plastic drinks bottle (and a stainless steel flask)

Woolly hat, scarf and gloves. • Socks, at least several pairs of thick socks and several pairs of normal ones • Swimwear and shorts • Suncream and sun hat • Torch and batteries • Casual clothes for evening wear • If you have the following bring them with you, otherwise they will be provided: • Walking boots • Wellingtons • Waterproof trousers and jacket • Small rucksack • Thermal fleece clothing is good as it is warm and dries quickly.

  10. Overnight Accommodation • The main house sleeps 49 in a range of dormitories. • Only our school will be in the house during the visit • Drying room and dining hall are all located in the house, which is secured at night • Shower and toilet facilities are located near all dormitories

  11. Catering • Tower Wood are able to cater for many special dietary requirements. All food is prepared and cooked by the friendly team of catering staff. They offer a healthy and varied menu which normally includes a cooked breakfast with toast and cereals, a packed lunch, a cooked evening meal and home cooked biscuits at supper time. Drinks are available as required. • Sample breakfast menu: • Selection of cereals, toast, orange juice and • Bacon and hash browns • Sausage and spaghetti hoops • Bacon, grilled tomato and scrambled egg

Sample Lunch Menu • Sample cooked lunch menu: • Vegetable soup and sandwiches, scones, jam and cream • Baked potatoes, baked beans, tuna mayonnaise, cheese, salads, trifle • Quiche, salad, baked potatoes, fresh fruit salad  • Sample packed lunch menu: • Ham and salad sandwich, tuna mayonnaise sandwich, lemon cake and a banana • Beef and salad sandwich, cheese and salad sandwich, coffee cake and an orange • Turkey and salad sandwich, egg mayonnaise sandwich, chocolate cake and an apple

Sample Evening Menu • Sample evening meal menu: • Sweet and sour chicken with rice, sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce • Fish, chips and vegetables, chocolate pudding and custard • Shepherds pie and vegetables, apple and sultana crumble and ice cream  • Supper: • Home made cookies and a hot drink

  14. Cost • Tower Wood residential stay including evening activities, coach travel to and from the centre: £140 • Lancashire County Council Free School Meals price: £50 • Minimum number required: 3 • Maximum number: 44
