What are some key differences between coaching and mentoring? • Key to Coaching • A coach typically does not have deep experience, but assists a person in a learning experiencing. • A coach may be a person of similar age and academic training. (ie – Peer coaching) • Relationship generally has a set duration and is more structured. • Coaching is typically focused on short-term goals and on specific areas/issues for development. • Agenda is focused on an individual’s personal development.
