  2. Warm-up 9/3/13 On page 4 of your journal… Please answer the following question What makes a story unforgettable? Answer in 2-3 sentences Hint: Start by thinking of your favorite book or story then think about all the elements that kept you interested.   3. Warm Up 9/4/13 On Page 6 of your Journal… Revisit your first week of seventh grade. In 1 paragraphs, retell the most significant occurrences of that week. Think of the people you met, the new things you encountered, the feelings you had: good, bad, and ugly. Be sure to use at least 3-4 of your vocabulary words from yesterday in your story.

  4. Warm UP 9/5/13 On page 8 of your journal… Draw a picture that is symbolic of the relationship between an protagonist and a antagonist. Ex: Character vs. Nature Car(person in car)= Protagonist Tornado= Antagonist

  5. Warm-up 9/6/2013 On page 10 in your journal… Now that you have read at least the first two paragraphs of the story “Seventh Grade,” write a continuation of the story. You must incorporate at least 2-3 vocabulary words and it should only be a paragraph long. (YOU MAY NOT USE THE WORD LINGER. IN ANY FORM!!!!)

  6. Warm-up 9/9/2013 On page 12 of your journal… Think of a situation in your life that is similar to the story “Seventh Grade.” Describe that incident in a few sentences. If you do not have a similar life event then try to think of a book that you have read that relates to situations that occurred in this story.

  7. Warm-up 9/10/13 On page 14 in your journal… Answer the following question… What does the future look like to you? Think of advances in technology, breakthroughs in medicine, the state of the world: air, supplies, nature, etc… Write these words down. Then rate them on a scale of 1-3. 1= I don’t know what this word means at all uninhabitable 2= I have pretty good idea of what it means 3= I know what it means: I can define it and use it • Copious • Disembodied • Evasive • Foray • Foresight(ed) • Languish • Posterity • Reproof

Warm-up 9/11/13 On page 16 of your journal… • Grab a yellow Warriner’s Handbook textbook from the back green table. • On page 28 of that textbook, read the paragraph for Exercise 4. • Then, write down every proper noun, common noun, and pronoun you see. You must tell which sentence you found it in by stating the number of the sentence (F.Y.I There are ten sentences all together)

Warm-up 9/30/13-2ndBlk On page 28 of your journal… • Take a Jr. Scholastic from the back dark brown table. • Read the article on page 15 titled “Star Power.” • Write down at least two questions that pop into your mind as you read the article. Or Write questions that you think people should ask themselves before they make a YES or NO decision on the topic • Decide which side of the argument you agree with and support your side in one paragraph (5-7 sentences) Remember, the first thing you must do in your paragraph is state your claim!
