The Finnish Student Health Service • You can use our services if, you are a basic degree student of a university and you have paid your student union membership fee to a student union. • During your studies, you can use the services provided by the Finnish Student Health Service when you have issues with your health or any illnesses.

  7. General Health Services include health advice and health care We mainly offer appointments with public health nurses, physiotherapists and general practitioners and specialists (gynaecologist and dermatologist)

Health examinations • FSHS sends all first-year students an electronic health inquiry during the first year of study • Public heath nurse will send a reply message • If necessary yoy will be asked to make an appointment with a public health nurse or an appointment for an oral health examination

  9. Travel vaccinations and advice - a callback service! Are you planning to travel, but do not know which vaccinations you need? Call the callback service for our travel vaccinations and advice helpline on 046 710 1099 If you need a tetanus or hepatitis vaccination, contact your local FSHS health centre

  13. Insurance • Students do not automatically get insurance when arriving to Finland.   14. Basic Rules FSHS has a callback service. When you call for an appointmentyour call will be forwarded to our phone service or to our callback service. Follow the given instructions. When you come for your appointment please remember to bring your student card or other proof of you having paid the student union membership fee (sticker). Whenyouhave an appointmentpleaseBe on time!

  15. Please cancel if you cannot make it • If you cannot make it to your appointment, please let us know well in advance. This way we can give the appointment time to someone else and our queues will be shorter. • Checking or cancelling an appointment: yths.fi/en/appointments • The penalty fee for no-show appointments (€25) will be charged for any appointments, group sessions and examinations that you do not cancel and do not arrive for, even if the appointment would have been free of charge.

Services – free of charge and chargeable All appointments at the FSHS general health and mental health services, including appointments with specialists, physiotherapists and groups, will be free of charge for students. The services of oral hygienists will also be free of charge. Clients will be required to pay appointment fees for dentists' appointments only, and even for dentists' appointments, the first check-up (extensive dental examination which is done once during the study time) will remain free of charge for students who have started their studies on 1 September 2005 or later.   17. Chargeable services Dentist Services --> 10 min. 10,00 10–20 min. 16,00 20–40 min. 24,00 --> 40 min. 30,00 The FSHS doctors usually give certificates related to studies or sickness only. Due to the scarcity of resources, it is under exceptional conditions only that they are able to provide any other certificates.

  21. Influenza or "flu" • Influenza/flu is usually caused by viruses • The symptoms are a sore throat, runny nose, cough, head ache and/or aching muscles • The fever usually lasts for 3 -5 days • The treatments are rest, warm drinks, inhaling steam

  22. You can use nasal sprays, medications for lowering feverand cough medicine • You need to see a nurse or a doctor only, if the symptoms are verysevere

Start using your Citizen’s account • The Citizen's account allows safe communication between students and the FSHS. • After your appointment, you can use the account to discuss matters related to your treatment (test results, treatment fees, care instructions etc.) securely with FSHS staff at any time that suits you. • Use your online banking ID or mobile ID to create a personal account code at www.asiointitili.fi. • Enter your phone number and/or your email address to receive automatic notifications every time the FSHS sends you a message. • You can give your consent to receiving messages in connection with an FSHS appointment.
