MECOP Internship Program • Multiple Engineering Co-Op Program • Unique to OSU Engineering • 5-year degree with two 6-month internships • Most universities have one 3-6 month internship (if any) • Best of both worlds • University for technical/theoretical background • Selected industries for practical, state-of-the-art applications

MECOP Internship Program • MECOP Interns • Experience real work on real projects • Develop a network of industry contacts • Develop a great-looking résumé • Get paid • Get confident • Most MECOP interns have a job offer before graduation • Many are hired by MECOP companies where they intern • Start job with a year of experience • Level-2 on the pay scale

MECOP Internship Program • Over 100 companies participate • Large: Intel, IBM, Boeing, etc. • Not-so-large: EWEB, Willamette Valley, etc. • https://www.mecopinc.org/industry-members • Pay is 70% - 75% of starting employee pay • $18,000 - $24,000 for each 6-month internship • Additional benefits

Typical Schedule • Sophomore • Apply (Deadline is April 10, 2014) • Must also apply to pro-school • Selection Interview (May 22) • Notification (July ~30) • Junior • Fall 2014, Winter 2015: Take courses • Placement Interview (January 2015) • Spring, Summer 2015: First Internship • Senior 1 • Fall 2015, Winter 2016, Spring 2016: Capstone Project & other courses • Summer, Fall 2016: Second internship • Senior 2: Finish courses, graduate (Winter 2017 ?)

MECOP Internship Program • Getting a MECOP internship • Fulfill requirements to apply for CS-Pro • Apply to MECOP at the same time as CS-Pro • Selection interview (Spring of Sophomore year) • Fulfill additional course requirements (Fall/Winter of Junior year) • Placement interview (Winter of Junior year) • Placement is via “draft lottery”

MECOP Summary • Two 6-month internships • Junior year: Spring-Summer • After first senior year: Summer-Fall • A year of real work experience • Excellent pay ($18,000 - $24,000 for each 6-month internship) • Build your professional network and résumé • Enhanced employment opportunities • Most have job offers before graduation • Start the search with one year of experience

MECOP Applications are due April 10, 2014. • The application template is on the MECOP website (https://www.mecopinc.org/). • In addition to the on-line application submittal, required materials include • two printed copies of the application • two copies of unofficial transcripts • one copy of the student agreement • Mailed or delivered to the MECOP office in Corvallis.  Mailing address is on the website. • Students who pass the application pre-screen will be notified by the MECOP office in early May.
