Characteristics of an Adult Learner • Realistic—Information that is immediately applicable . • Practical—Hands-on practice. • Experienced—Insights. • Unique—Backgrounds. • Set in their learning pattern—They’re in a continual state of learning. They are self-directed and prefer to control their learning experiences. • Busy—Competing interests (family, work). District Training Program

Establish a positive relationship with participants • Greet participants. • Make eye contact. • Set behavior guidelines. • Give participants the option to pass on or opt out of any activity. • Summarize points made before moving on to the next subject. • Try not to read directly from your notes. • Post a small clock where you can see it.
