This text provides a rubric for grading pre-writing, first drafts, peer revisions, and timeliness of geometry assignments. It also includes important announcements and reminders for students.

Reminders • 22 School days left • Rough draft due next Thursday/Friday (21/22) • Final draft and final project due the following Thursday/Friday (28/29) • All make up work (exit slips, test corrections,…) due May 29 • Tutoring for exit slips/test corrections • If you have an NP in geometry, you should be in EVERY geometry tutoring!! • NO MAKE UP WORK ACCEPTED IN JUNE!

  5. Pre-Write Rubric • 4—Work is complete and organized. It looks like the student worked hard on the assignment. • 3—Work is complete. It looks like the student spent time on the assignment. • 2—Work is incomplete. It looks like the student gave the assignment a half-hearted attempt. • 1—Work is incomplete and very disorganized. It looks like the student started this yesterday/today.

  6. First Draft Rubric • 4—Work is complete and organized. It looks like the student worked hard on the assignment. • 3—Work is complete. It looks like the student spent time on the assignment. • 2—Work is incomplete. It looks like the student gave the assignment a half-hearted attempt. • 1—Work is incomplete and very disorganized. It looks like the student started this yesterday/today.

  7. Peer Revision Rubric • 4—Student provides peers with lots of quality constructive criticism. • 3—Student provides peer with some constructive criticism. • 2—Student provides peer with minimal constructive criticism. • 1—Student doesn’t provide peers with any constructive criticism.

  8. Timeliness Rubric • 4—All assignments were turned in on time. • 3—Student misses 1 deadline by 1 day. • 2—Student misses 2 deadlines by one day or misses 1 deadline by two days. • 1—Student misses several deadlines.

  9. Organization Rubric • 4—The introduction states the main topic, and provides an overview of the paper. Information is relevant and presented in a logical order. The conclusion is strong. • 3—The introduction states the main topic and provides an overview of the paper. A conclusion is included. • 2—The introduction states the main topic. A conclusion is included. • 1—There is no clear introduction, structure, or conclusion.

Key Vocabulary Rubric • 4—Includes all relevant and appropriate terms for the topic. • 3—Includes all relevant information, but describes terms instead of using them.  (e.g. “flipped upside down fraction” instead of “reciprocal”) • 2—Uses words incorrectly, but still clear what they meant to say. • 1—Used words so incorrectly that it is impossible to determine what they meant to say.

  11. Correct Understanding Rubric • 4—Answers all aspects of the question without error. The author’s extensive knowledge with the topic is evident. Main ideas are clear and are well supported by detailed and accurate information. • 3—Solid conceptual understanding, minor “work” errors. The authors knowledge with the topic is evident. Main ideas are clear but are not well supported by detailed information. • 2—Conceptual errors and or major calculation errors. The author’s knowledge of the topic is limited. Main ideas are somewhat clear. • 1—Total lack of conceptual and procedural understanding. Main ideas are not clear.

  12. Structure, Grammar, Spelling Rubric • 4—All sentences are well constructed. The author makes no errors in grammar or spelling. • 3—Most sentences are well constructed. The author makes a few errors in grammar and/or spelling, but they do not interfere with understanding. • 2—Most sentences are well constructed. The author makes several errors in grammar and/or spelling that interfere with understanding. • 1—Sentences sound awkward, are distracting repetitive, or are difficult to understand. The author makes numerous errors in grammar and/or spelling that interfere with understanding.
