  3. Our chosen artist We have chose the artist by the name of JahsehOnfroy known world wide as XXXTentacion born January 23 1998 in Plantion Florida. He was an American rapper, singer and song writer. He covered a wide variety of genres such as hip hop, R&B, heavy metal, punk rock and pop. He started his musical career in 2014 on a website called SoundCloud, he later on gaining popularity from his hit song “look at me” early 2017. Near the end of 2017 he released his lofi/R&B album called 17 which peaked to number 2 on the billboard 200. He later died mid 2018 by a robbery where he ended up getting shot.

  4. Our song choice Our song choice is Before I close my eyes which is an acoustic pop song which is slow and sad with X singing over the top in soft vocals. The song also has a meaning which makes the lyrics deeper and more thought has gone into the song in its entirety.  

  5. Our music video idea For our project we will be creating a non narrative music video with elements of performance and lyrics. Because our song is sad the whole video will be in black and white except from the lyrics. We will have shots of someone being lost from a first person perspective and also performance shots of the song being played on the guitar.

  6. How are we going to achieve our Idea? We will achieve our idea by writing a time plan and knowing if our music video is a realistic idea. We will use our budget to our advantage by having most our camera footage hand held and slightly distorted.

  8. Pop music Pop music is the genre of popular music you normally see it in the charts and normally on the radio. Pop music has a lot of different elements involved in with in the genres such as urban, rock, Latin and country.

Codes and conventions used in pop music and other similar song These are the common codes and conventions we have identified in our research: Video styles: Music videos in this genre use a lot a performance and non narrative styles with uses of black and white colour and other b roll filler scenes for example Wonderwall by Oasis Lighting: A lot of the lighting used in this style is mainly natural lighting and also spotlights just to give it more of a minimalistic effect. Camera angles: Some of the camera angles uses are extreme close up , long shots, mid shots, cut aways and Dutch angles. Location:  M0st of the videos are normally based in old run down areas that are dark and gritty for example Time of your life by Green Day

  10. Taget audience Our taget audiences are ages 13 – 25 because its typically a song to be played on the radio and its easy listening. It will also apeal to this audience because X is part of the new wave of artist that a lot of the older generation wont understand with all the face tattoos. The older generation will take something away from this too because the videos more directed at a pop audience too and it will sort of show that these artists aren't all one thing.

  11. What do the lyrics mean? The theme for the song is mainly getting forgiveness for his troubled passed and also running away from his problems. He talks about time changing in the background and how things slowly fade away.  

  12. Why did we chose this song? We chose this song because it has mean within the lyrics. The song is also very stripped down so we wont have to add many effects.  To started with we wanted to go for more of an electric pop song but with that style there a lot of effects and high production that would take too long to do. We thought the song would be perfect considering our time and budget.

  14. Non narrative story Our music video Idea is mainly a no narrative story with someone running away from a  problem In the woods. There will be various first person shaky camera shots just to give the video more of rugged feel. We've also done this to uses our budget to our advantage.

  15. Added lyrics There aren't that many lyrics in the song so we will be able to fit all the lyrics in the video or at least most. We where thinking of adding the lyrics in post production but we thought that would take up too much time. We are going to add the lyrics in the video with either bits of paper or card just so it gets the lyrics across. We will do this by cutting them out or writing them down. To add the colour we will have the lettering green then ultra key them in post production so they stand out.
