  3. What is photosynthseis? • Photosynthesis is the process plants use to trap the sun’s energy and build carbohydrates, called glucose, that store energy.

  4. 1st phase • Light-dependent reactions: • Convert light energy into chemical energy • ( electron transport chain) • Occurs in thylakoid discs in chloroplast • Chlorophyll absorbs all colors except green that is why plant looks green (reflected)

  5. 2nd phase • Light dependent reactions • Produce glucose (calvin cycle)
