  1. Important Policies and Procedures • Make sure you have signed up online for BWE email blasts. • Please sign in at the front office each time you come to school. • Please register online on the CMS website to be a volunteer. • Send a note with your child any time there is a change in their afternoon transportation. (Email may not get checked in time.) • Please be sure you are signing communication pockets each Thursday night and returning them on Fridays.

  2. Birthday Celebrations • Food sent to school for birthdays should be shared at lunch (12:00–12:30 is our lunch time). • Food shared for birthdays must be store- bought and should be peanut free.

  8. Science • 1st Quarter: The Scientific Method, Matter and Energy • 2nd Quarter: Solar System • 3rd Quarter: Structures and functions of the human body and plant systems • 4th Quarter: Force and Motion

  9. Math • Number sense 0 - 9,999 • Addition and subtraction of multi-digit numbers • Multiplication and division • Time (Elapsed time) • Metric length, capacity and mass • Area, Perimeter • Geometry • Fractions • Line plots, tallies • Line, Bar, Circle & Pictographs • Growing patterns

Grading Scale • A = 100% - 93% • B = 92% - 85% • C = 84% - 77% • D = 76% - 70% • F = 69% or below *Students who score an 84% or below on a formal assessment (end of unit test) will be re-taught and reassessed in order to show mastery of these concepts. **This year writing grades will be included in students’ ELA (English Language Arts) grades. A health grade will be given based on students’ participation in character education and physical education lessons.

  11. Assessments • MAP assessments are given for diagnostic purposes only. Reports guide our teaching. Assessments are given three times this year in Language Arts and Math. • Reading 3D assessments are given 3 times a year to determine students’ reading level. You will receive reports concerning their progress. • End-of-Grade (EOG) tests in Reading and Math will be given mid-May.
