ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 Accessing ALOSHI Located at https://aloshi.cern.ch Login: NICE login and password required No special registration procedure Users get registered with ALOSHI automatically when they access the interface for the first time Logout: The only correct way of leaving ALOSHI is the Logout link! It is also suggested to close the browser window once you have finished working with ALOSHI

ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 Shift reports Composing (1) A shift report can be composed From the Home page → Shift report composition page link Shift reports menu in Navigation bar → Compose a shift report link You can create your shift report, e.g. in the beginning of your shift, save it, and edit it at any time later as necessary

ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 Shift reports Composing (2) Shift type must be selected (night, day, evening) Though other parameters can be changed (like the authorship of the shift report or its position in shift reports section), changing them is not recommended (to keep the taxonomy clear) - the defaults should be OK Content!

ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 Shift reports Composing (3) Should you have problems with composition of your report, e.g., browser crashes (noticed for FF 3.0.12 on SLC5, IE6 on WinXP) you can try one of the following remedies: Change the editor (to one with less number of features) On shift report composition page select Input format → Full HTML with TinyMCE Change the browser Switch to plain-text mode (no formatting available) On shift report composition page click Disable rich text link just below the shift report text area. You can switch back to rich-text mode clicking Enable rich text link (in the same position on the page)

ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 Shift reports Locating A shift report can be located Through Shift reports menu in Navigation bar Shift reports → Shift reports from the current (previous) period Through Advanced Search engine (e.g. by author) Search block → More options → Author [→ more... (to expand the full list of authors)] Through Sections menu in Navigation bar Sections → Offline Shifter's Notebook → Shift reports: period Through Search engine (using keywords) Enter keywords in Search block

ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 alice-offline-shifts e-group and automatic emailing alice-offline-shifts e-group will be used for notifications to Offline Shifters Shifter's e-mail gets automatically added to the e-group once they create their first shift report – no manual action required (but you can add yourself to the group if you wish so) The e-mails of those who have done Offline shifts by now (current period) are already added to the e-group Everyone can remove themselves from the e-group (via e-groups web interface: https://e-groups.cern.ch) Each time a new shift report is created an automatic notification will be sent by ALOSHI (sender: aloshi@cern.ch)

ALICE Offline Shifter Tutorial, 23 Sep 2009 Shift reports Editing Any user can edit any shift report Once the shift report is located click on its title → Edit After you are done click Save button (on the bottom of the page) Deleting Any user can delete their ownshift report Once the shift report is located click on its title → Edit Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Delete button Confirm the action
