Collagen III - Common in fast growing tissue, particularly at the Phase 1 (early stages) of wound repair Type I collagen is stronger and tougher than Type III collagen!

A child’s skin has an abundance of collagen III, responsible for the softness of young skin. As the body grows, Type III collagen decreases and Type I increases until about the age 35 and begins to decline thereafter. Breakdown of healthy collagen (UV, free radicals, smoking…) also reduces the amount of collagen and leads to wrinkles and the appearance of aged skin.
