  4. Forward Purchasing Facility (FPF) • Since mid 2008: almost 430,000 mt mostly for the Horn of Africa and Great Lakes • Reduces procurement & transport lead times (from 86 to 1-45 days). Commodities are procured without having defined funding or final destinations

  5. Preposition of stocks • Similar to FPF but in addition keeps food stored at strategic locations, where WFP has operations and assets • Needs a reliable demand (HoA and GLK)

  6. WFP in emergencies have the dual mandate of delivering food aid and coordinating the logistics efforts of the humanitarian community through the logistics cluster.
