  4. “Ensuring your Hospital is Safe and Clean” REPORT CARD – 2013 • A minimum of 30 inspections to hospitals across Scotland with 94% unannounced • Cleaner wards and departments • Cleaner patient equipment • Fewer maintenance, repairs and refurbishment issues • Better access to training and education • Infection control manual in every ward • Cleanliness champions everywhere • Great team working with nurses, domestics and estates • Infection control everyone’s responsibility

  5. “Ensuring your Hospital is Safe and Clean” WHAT PATIENTS AND THE PUBLIC TELL ME • 87% of patients say their wards are “always clean”. • 10% of patients say their wards are “mostly clean”. • 70% of patients say staff always wash their hands. • 20% of patients say staff usually wash their hands. However, patients still don’t always feel they can challenge poor practices.
