  2. Why is Onboarding Important? U.S. and U.K. employees cost businesses an estimated $37 billion every year because they do not fully understand their jobs. The 10 Commandments of Employee Onboarding Half of all hourly workers leave new jobs within the first 120 days. Krauss, A. D. (2010).
  3. What Forces Drive Onboarding Failure? Poor design - cheap, generic, consistent, and utterly useless content; the focus is on benefits not the work and the environment/culture Poor execution – content overload; limited timeframe; one size fits all; unidirectional – spewing; lack of action and metrics; unclear expectations; without managers present and engaged; limited access to documents and resources needed to know and do the work

During her 25-year career with UPS, she has held a variety of positions in Operations, Human Resources, Engineering, and Leadership & Talent Development. Laura is based in Atlanta, GA.

  10. What’s working? Lauren Lobel Global Talent Development Manager Lauren joined Accenture in 2000. After working for seven years as a consultant to a variety of clients across North America, she transferred to the Global Human Resources Team. Lauren’s current area of focus is developing Accenture’s global onboarding strategy for over 60,000 new joiners annually across 69 countries. She also has extensive experience in the areas of project management, career management, mergers & acquisitions, communications, surveying, metrics, and using social collaboration effectively within the corporate environment. Lauren has a BA from Northwestern University and, prior to Accenture, worked in education. She is now based in Washington, D.C. with her husband and two young children.

Additionally, Elise leads one facet of the multi-function task force responsible for developing and rolling out a Global Onboarding program to Hilton Worldwide Team Members Elizabeth Chin, HR Coordinator Elizabeth specializes in providing support to all HR functional areas within Hilton Worldwide ’s Global Headquarters. She facilitates bi-weekly Orientation sessions and coordinates the onboarding process for corporate new hires. Elizabeth has embraced her two years with Hilton Worldwide and is passionate about collaborating with key team members to constantly innovate and continually improve the Global Onboarding Program
