  3. Find The Career That Fits You Best • Log on to www.bridges.com • Enter Site ID: 0105951 • Enter Pass: T3d8c2M5 • Register as a user • Click on Choices • Complete the Career Finder and all related activities • Complete the Ability Profiler if you have time • Complete Pathway of your choice

  4. Do you have what you need? • Check your transcripts. Be sure you have • Enough credits for admission to school of choice • If playing sports…do you meet NCAA requirements? • Have you checked into Opportunity Scholarship/Jackrabbit Guarantee/or similar scholarship guidelines? • A high enough ACT score for admission, as well as possible scholarships • Retake the ACT soon if necessary!!

  5. Will you be admitted? • Narrow your colleges of choice and APPLY NOW!! • Early birds get the worm, and have enough time to have their “ducks in a row!”

  6. By the End of October… • Have all the previous completed, and retake the ACT exam if necessary.

  7. In November… • Apply to schools or narrow career choices if haven’t already done so • Use Internet and info from Mrs. Mikkelsen to figure the cost of your education • How are you planning to fund your education? • Get PIN number for you and your parents and guard with your life…this will make applying for Financial Aid much less stressful!! • http://www.fafsa.ed.gov

  8. In December… • Be thinking of who will write outstanding recommendations for you and give them as much notice as possible • Create a resume http://www.bridges.com site, and keep saved for future use • Create a Word document neatly listing in outline format all of your awards/activities/accomplishments • This will come in handy for local scholarships

  9. In January • Encourage your parents to file their income tax ASAP…this could make a difference in your Fin. Aid Award. • As soon as their income taxes are completed, complete the On-Line FAFSA form. You will need the PIN discussed earlier. • All Admissions info should be in. • Stay on top of scholarship applications and deadlines. • Investigate purchasing a computer for college • What will it cost?

  10. By February… • You should get your SAR (Student Aid Report) • Make sure everything is correct and return • Complete scholarship applications as needed (type if available, don’t leave anything out)

  11. In March/April… • You should receive your acceptance letter to schools of choice by April 15th. Make a choice if you applied to more than one school • Base your decision on Financial Aid/Scholarships, as well as personal preference

  12. In May… • GRADUATE!!! May 13, in case you forgot • Take AP exams for any AP subjects studied in high school • Try to “clep out” of any intro courses that you have just taken advanced courses in • i.e. If you took Bio II, try to clep out of intro to bio • This would save you time and tuition if you pass. • Discuss your options with your particular school and check on their policies.

  13. Next Summer… • Participate in a Freshmen Orientation and get registered for classes. • Get all of your insurance switched over, etc. • Remember that your “permanent address” is that in which you live now…Your college address is just for local use. Don’t hurry to change this unless you plan to stay a long time.
