  1. Introduction to information system Unit 6: output

  2. Unit outline • Concept you should know • Understand output hardware • Output devices

  3. How to set up your computer work area

  4. Output hardware • Output hardware translate information processed by the computer into a form that human can see and understand. • The principle of kinds of output are hardcopy and softcopy.

  5. Output hardware • Hardcopy – refers to printed output from printers or any printing devices • Softcopy – refers to data that is shows on a display screen or its in audio or voice form.

  6. Softcopy output • Cathode-ray tube (CRTs) • The most common form of display screen • Dots a picture elements called “pixel”

  7. Softcopy output • Flat-panel display • Much thinner that CRT • Weight less • Consume less power

  8. Softcopy output • Video display adapter - A graphic adapter is a circuit board that determines the resolution, number of colors and how fast images appear in the display screen.

  9. Softcopy output • Video display adapter • VGA (video graphic array) support 16 to 256 colors • SVGA (Super video graphic array) • HDMI (high definition multimedia interface)

  10. Printer and plotter • Print text or images on paper

  11. Printer and plotter • Printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent human-readable representation of graphics or text on paper or similar physical media.[1] The first computer printer design was a mechanically driven apparatus by Charles Babbage for his difference engine in the 19th century; his mechanical printer design was not built until 2000.[The first electronic printer was the EP-101, invented by Japanese company Epson and released in 1968.[3][4] The first commercial printers generally used mechanisms from electric typewriters and Teletype machines

  12. Printer and plotter • Plotter is a specialized output device designed to produce high quality graphic is a variety of colors.

  13. The theater of output • Audio output, video, virtual or even robot is the new technology of output that become part of our live.

  14. The theater of output • Audio output device - Devices that output voice or voice-like sounds and those that output music and other sounds

  15. The theater of output • Video output devices – the video technology - Video conferencing (method whereby people in different locations can have a meeting - HDTV (high definition television) and now 4k

  16. The theater of output

  17. The theater of output • Vr – virtual reality typically refers to computer technologies that use virtual reality headsets, sometimes in combination with physical spaces or multi-projected environments, to generate realistic images, sounds and other sensations that simulates a user's physical presence in a virtual or imaginary environment. • May cause you become 3-D disorientation sickness.

  18. The theater of output • Robot – is an automatic device that performs functions ordinarily ascribed to human beings. Robot video

  19. What is the future of output hardware will look like?

  20. Discussion activity • Imaging that you are in year 2027 • What will output hardware in the next 10 years will look like? • Draw a picture in computer or in any paper and upload to powerpoint • Along with describe….
