  3. Environmental Concerns • A hot political issue • Many debates among scientists • Let me tell you about one Jr. High Science Project. • 1997 • Eagle Rock Junior High, Idaho Falls, Idaho • Nathan Zohner won 1st prize

  4. Environmental Concerns • Nathan’s project – Organizing to request government action to protect its citizens against the dangers of “dihydrogen monoxide” • He developed a poster • Set up in a busy mall • Asked people to sign his petition

  5. Dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide • He asked 50 people if they support a ban. • 43 said yes and signed the petition • Six were undecided • And only one knew that the chemical is ... water.

Dangers of Dihydrogen Monoxide His poster gave the following dangers: • It can cause excessive sweating and vomiting. • It is a major component in acid rain. • It can cause severe burns in its gaseous state. • Accidental inhalation can kill you. • It contributes to the erosion of our natural landscape. • It decreases the effectiveness of automobile brakes. • It is found in tumors of terminal cancer patients.

  7. In a confused world • John 18:37-38 - 37Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” 38Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.

  8. In a confused world • What is truth? • John 17:17 - Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth. • The world can fool us with fancy words, tricky phrases. • But God does not. He tells you exactly what is expected for salvation.
