  2. The points fit the question • AP Government questions are broken down into parts- part a, part b, part c, etc. • You need to label these parts in your answer. • For example: a) then write your answer, skip a line and write b) then write your answer, etc. • There is no intro, conclusion, or thesis in an ap government frq • Each part is worth one, two, three points depending on what you are asked to do • For example if part a of the question asks you to define a policy and provide an example, that means part a is worth 2 points. • Get In the habit of determining how many points each question is worth

  3. Hold on- it isn’t that easy • There is not need to waste your time creating an outline. • You only have 100 minutes to answer all four questions. • It is a good idea to brainstorm as your read the question. Write down everything you can think of. • Your answer must be very, very specific. You must get the answer correct. • Write many sentences for each part and always write in complete sentences. • Go back to your brainstorm list and go to where the points are. • Give examples all the time. If the question asks for 2, give 3 just to cover your bases. • We giveith, we don’t takeith away • Write more than you have to.

  4. More words of wisdom • Your answer must link back to the question being asked. • This means you must understand what the question is asking you! • Please, please, please make sure you know what is being asked before you attempt to answer the question. • Use key terms in your answer. • This means you should define those terms as well- prove you know what they mean. • If you get a chart……. • Reference the number or percentages in the chart. • You must prove to the reader that you read and understood the chart. • You can’t just say vague things like there are more people or less people.

  5. The most important thing to do • Always use the word because in your answer, especially when asked to explain
