  2. What is a College and Career Advisor? Educator located in your school who provides current information on: • Colleges • Scholarships • Careers • Trade Schools • College Entrance Exams (SAT and ACT) • Branches of the Military

  3. When Can I Visit the Career Center ? • BY APPOINTMENT ONLY! • In order for me to provide students with quality services, it is necessary to ensure consistency among everyone in regards to Career Center visitations. • Students may obtain a pass from me before school ONLY.

  4. College and Scholarship Procedures • Students must make an appointment to see your counselor. • All transcript requests will go through your counselor. • All college applications must be completed no later than December 1!

  5. Transcripts • All transcript requests MUST be in writing. • Your first two (2) transcripts are free. • You will be charged three dollars ($3.00) per additional transcript (per HCPS school board regulations 06-18-2006) and will be due upon request. • Mid-Year transcripts will be mailed out automatically. • Only one final transcript will be mailed.

  6. Recommendations • Students must submit a resume’ at the time of requesting a recommendation from anyone. • HSHS faculty and staff will forward recommendation letters to the school counseling office.

  7. Now what? Complete: • Scholarship Nomination Questionnaire (beginning October 1st) Review: • Senior Handbook • October Newsletter • Spotlight on Colleges

  9. Career Center Events • Old Dominion University October 5th at 2:00 pm • Virginia State University: On-Site Admission Interviews October 7th at 9:15 am
