Rule 103: Definitions: • Affiant: responsible person who swears on oath that facts are true • Bail: security guaranteeing return for court appearance • Capital case: death penalty • Clerk of Courts: maintains criminal records • Collateral: money posted for summary case • Criminal proceedings: includes court and all actions enforcing penal (criminal) laws
