  1. Our Government All about the three branches! judicial executive legislative by: Tatum Watson and Viviana Pesqueria

  2. Our Government Our government is made up of three branches. It uses checks and balances and separation of powers to ensure no individual branch becomes too powerful. Judicial: Makes sure laws aren't unconstitutional. Legislative: Makes laws. There are two parts, House of Representatives and Senate. Executive: Carries out and recommends new federal laws.

  3. Judicial Branch Our Supreme Court is made up of nine justices. As a Supreme Court Justice you can stay there for life, or until you retire. The nine justices names are: Antonin Scalia, Anthony Kennedy, Clarence Thomas, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Samuel A. Alito Jr., Sonia Sotomayer, Elena Kagen, and our Chief Justice, John Roberts.

  4. Judicial Branch For each district we have a district court. A district court deals with their district and their district only. The Court of Appeals deals with the appeals from the High Court.

  5. Executive Branch Most people have heard of the names Barrack Obama and Joe Biden, they are our President and Vice President. Together they are the faces of our government and the leaders of the Executive Branch. The United States elects new executives every four years making this November the year we elect new executives or reelect our 2008-2012 executives.

  7. Legislative Branch One of our two houses of Congress is the Senate. There are 100 senators, each with a term of six years. Where as the House of Representatives has 435 voting members, with a term of two years.
