  3. The Present Construction a.k.a. The Present Progressive • To talk about what you are doing now use the present tense of estar and the present participle (please note: continuar & seguir can be used as well…they translate to “to keep on”) • What are the present tense conjugations of estar, continuar, and seguir?.....

  6. Stem-Changers • Only–ir stem-change/boot verbs, stem-change in the present participle BUT with special stem changes: • e  i (i.e. sentir, pedir, decir, venir, etc.) • o  u (i.e. dormir, poder*) *exception

  7. Spell Changers • When the stem of a an –ir verb (with the exception of verbs ending in –guir) or the stem of an –er verb ends in a vowel (i.e. traer, leer, contruir, oir), the ending is: –yendo NOT-iendo • The verb ir (to go) simply becomes yendo

  8. Reflexive Verb Rules • The reflexive pronoun can come before estar, continuar, or seguir, OR attached to the present participle (an accent mark is needed on the 3rd vowel from the end to maintain stress) • Me estoy duchando o Estoy duchándome
